ÊÀÇÀÕÑÒÀÍ Dayanà: I really support these initiatives. I think the introduction of such quotas for the representation of women in the governance system at the state level or corporate sector is very important. Quotas form demand for women-leaders. And the demand as you know gives rise to the proposal. After all, in Kazakhstan, I think as well as in Japan, patriarchal notions of society, business, etc. Still dominate, but there are so many women who are well educated and have great professional experience. Just because of public sentiments, they are afraid to speak openly and show their ambitions. I believe that inKazakhstanwe should raise the status of women. Women should have economic independence and access to all social spheres. There is a historical background, firstly becauseKazakhwomen have never had the status that has been and remains in manyMuslimcountries. Kazakhwomenwere always socially active, evenwithin their family. Secondly, working and self-realized women are first and foremost an economically developed and self-realized future generation. After all, there are alreadymany studies on the impact of the workingmother on the level of children’s education, on the formation of their rolemodels. And I believe that this attitude towards women in Kazakhstan should influence many existing views on the education of girls. In this context, I want to tell one case. I met one person in Kazakhstan and he told me about his family. Then, during the conversation, he said that in his family the girls have one surname, and the boys have a different surname. The boys were given a surname according to the already revived Kazakh traditions on behalf of the father, and the girls were named according to the old system by the surname with the ending "-ova". To my question: "Why did it happen that the brother and sister live with different surnames?" he told that the girls will get married and still change their surname. That is it; the family has already determined the life scenario for the girls. And the fact that girls can become high-class specialists or realize themselves in business, in creativity or sports, achieve results and even glorify their family - nobody takes into account. Maybe I will repeat, but I believe that, first of all, it is necessary to educate the girls and the boys as the person. And then give this person the opportunity to form their own way of life. And many women who will read this article, I want to say only one thing: "Go and achieve what you want. Even if you manage to achieve only 10 percent of the goal, this is also good. After all, 10 percent is always better than 0". Here we are talking about the children, now among the young people in Kazakhstan there is such an opinion that in order to realize it is necessary to go abroad. How can you comment on this? Also what it is necessary for us to do for not give them to go somewhere and study here in our country? Dayana: There is such an expression - "the grass is always greener on the onther side of the fence". In Kazakhstan, many people think that in another country lifestyle is better. I think that this is happens because of the fact that there is not enough patriotism level in Kazakhstan. And this is what we need to work at the government level. I live in the US and see how much work the Government, media resources and many companies do to shape patriotic sentiments. In America there are such concepts as "the American dream", "family values", "democracy", "motivation for entrepreneurship and self-development" and these are not just the words. It is an important element of American patriotism. Why patriotism is important, because a person with patriotic attitudes is looking for open opportunities to his country. Yes, some social or state complications can irritate someone, but believe in America, too, its own turmoil and internal problems. I think that we ourselves-citizens of Kazakhstan need to understand that Kazakhstan is a very young and promising country. There are many opportunities and potential for personal and professional growth. It all needs to be just directed in the right direction. In conclusion, as an expert in reputational PR, I wanted to ask you a question about the differences between the American and Kazakh business cultures. Dayana: I can say that the business culture in these countries is radically different, starting with the fact that there is more bureaucracy in Kazakhstan. In the US, many procedures are minimized. For example, it takes about no more than one hour to register a company. For the entire period of my own business, to the tax authorities, I did not go even once. In the US, everything is much easier, at the end of the year you fill out the declaration, you pay taxes and that's it. Everything is electronically optimized. State business processes are very simplified. As for the business itself, networking and business reputation are very important in the United States. This is especially important in the service sectors, in the services and small and medium-sized businesses segments. In Kazakhstan, however, I observed a slightly different situation. Here the principle of "buy- sell" is evenmore present. People do not think about their reputation, they should sell here and now, get "easy money". Long-term reputation building strategies in Kazakhstan are not very common, although in America it is one of the archival tasks for any entrepreneur. And this is one more important point that all entrepreneurs in Kazakhstan should pay attention to. You need to take care of your recommendations, because if you have a high reputation, then you and your business will be recommended to your business partners and friends. In America, business is only built on this". Thank you very much Dayana, for this interesting interview, I wish you success and we will wait for your projects in Kazakhstan!
