-Mr. Lokaychuk,whatwereyour impressions
ofDubai and themeetingsyouhad?
- I came toDubai fromViennawhere I
visited the international real estate showReal
Vienna. There, wewere just visitors, while in
Dubai we finallymetwith representatives of
DPWorldgroup, whichhadbeen known tous
formany years. For thismeetingweprepared
our presentationof theproject providing
for constructionof container terminal in the
deepest-water port at theBlack Sea called
Yuzhny (16meters).
WenegotiatedwithDPWorldasearlyas in
2004,when thisprojectwas in thedevelopment
phase. At that time,weworkedon thisproject
togetherwith theUScorporationTransSystem.This
is theonlyproject in theworldwherecontainer
terminal siteequals132hectaresofprivatelyowned
landandwhereoil terminal has99hectareswith1
kilometer-long shoreline for constructionof apier. I
amnot certainof the future resultsof negotiations
withDPWorld, but it certainlywas interesting to
communicatewith themagain.
Our projectwas developedwith the
newest international technologies. Actually, the
container terminal requires 46hectares of land
only, whilewe allocated132hectares to fit in the
customs zone, free zone, ship repair, assembly,
logistics andwarehouses. This project is to
become amodel project, from thepoint of view
of theworld standards.We camehere to find a
partnerwe could cooperatewith in the future.
-Couldn’tDPWorldbe suchapartner?
-DPWorld took intooperatingmanagement
Constantaport in2004. IfOdessa launches its
newcontainer terminal, theywill have5million
containers a year,which ismuchmore than
Constantaandmanyotherworldports. Therefore,
wemeetwithDPWorld, almost every year to
observe their tendencies andattitudes.Wehave
already receivedaproposal fromDPWorld’s
competitors –aSingaporecompanycalledACDC.
Also,wenegotiatewithother companies.
We informedDPWorld thatbyOctoberweare
going toopen the tender forVeraportoperator,
which is tobecomeour strategicpartner and to
performgeneralmanagementof theport.Today
wehaveorderscovering300%(!) of theport’s
capacity.This showshowmanycompaniesare
willing touseour services. I think themanagement
ofDPWorld should look into this tendency.
