today it hasgoodeconomicprospects. SinceState
PropertyFund is supposed toused steps inorder
toattract foreign investors, Chamber of Commerce
ad IndustryofDubai in turn iswilling toassist
Ukraine ingetting investments, primarily, in the
sphereof real estate, saidAlMutaiwi.
General Director of Dubai CCI told about the
circumstances of the acquiringof Britishoperator
P&ObyDubai corporationDPWorld. Today,
DPWorldoperates seaports inmore than20
countries of theworld. Additionally, AlMutaiwi
informed that Emirates’companies invest a lot
of funds into countries likeMorocco, Tunisia,
etc. StateProperty Fundof Ukraine also could
present different projects andDubai CCI could
present them for reviewby interested investors
(recreation, construction). By theway, at this
time, UAE is going through real construction
boom– inparallel with constructionof objects
in Emirates, infrastructure is beingdeveloped as
well. This experience couldbeuseful for Ukraine.
After the9/11 tragedy in theUS, themarket
of air servicewasgoingdown. At the time,
management of EmiratesAirlinesdecided to
purchaseaircraft for the total amount of 24billion
USDand thisdecision turnedout tobeverywise
becauseafter awhile theair-servicemarket began
togrow rapidlyagain. Today, EmiratesAirlines
isoneof theworld’s largest airlines. This iswhy
AlMutaiwi raised the issueof settingup regular
flightsbetweenUAEandUkraineduringhis visit.
Anotherdirectionof cooperation in the
fieldof air servicecouldbe representedby the
participationofEmirates’companies inopen
privatization tendersof suchUkrainiancompanies
asOdessaavia,DnyproaviaandKharkivavia.Today,
UAE investorscould try towin the tenderon
operationsmanagement forOdessaand Illichivsk
ports.According toAlMutaiwi, thisoffer shouldbe
interesting for theworldwideknowncorporationDP
Worldworking in the fieldofportsmanagement.
During thenegotiations, Headof State
Property FundValentina Semenyuk also informed
that shares of JV Infocom aregetting ready for
sale. This companywas founded in1991by
Ukraine’s national telecomoperator Ukrtelecom
andGermanControlware company.
Taking into account the interest of theboth
parties towards cooperation, AlMutaiwi and
Valantina Semenyuk agreedon continuous
informationexchange.
Firstmeetingof Ukraine’s andUAE
businessmenoccurred in1995mwhen the
Delegationof Ukraine’s CCI visitedUAE. During
the visit, theparties signed agreements on
cooperationbetween theCCIs of Ukraine
andUAE Emirates of Dubai and Sharja. Visit
of thePresident of CCI Federationof UAE, Mr.
SaidAl Suweidi in2002became an important
contribution to thedevelopment of trade and
economic relations betweenUAE andUkraine.
