December 2005, Jafza and Kiev company
Investment and Privatization Assistance Fund
have signed a cooperation agreement. The
latter party now represents Jafza inUkraine. In
2006, with direct assistance of UTC, branches
of several Ukrainian companies were registered
in Jebel Ali FZ and now they enjoy all the
privileges and benefits granted by the FZ
administration and use actively the beneficial
taxation and attractive geographical location
of Jebel Ali andDubai allowing the access to
themarkets of other Gulf countries.
Early this year, UTCextended the
agreementwith Jafza to2007-2008. At this
time, activenegotiations areunderwaywith
the administrationof another freeeconomic
zone inDubai (TechnoPark), which forms part
of the recently EconomicZonesWorldholding
company, togetherwith Jebel Ali FZ.
TechnoPark is a recently established and
rapidlydevelopingorganizationwith the
maingoal of assisting thehigh-tech andup-
to-date industries and research centers. All
essential conditions for scientific research in
themost promising areas ofmodern science
and for productions havebeen createdhere.
TechnoPark has several priorities, including
but not limited to theoil andgas sector, high
technologies (microchipdesign andproduction,
etc.), desalinationof seawater and technologies
related towater supply andpurification.
The administrationof this company initiated
thenegotiations onpossible representation
of TechnoPark interests inUkraine. Taking
into account thehigh scientific and
technological potential of Ukraine, complying
with international standards andofteneven
exceeding them, such cooperationwithTechno
Park couldbe verypromising.
Another important activity of UTC
is the comprehensive assistance to the
development of economic, trade and cultural
relationships between the UAE andUkraine
and between the UAE and various regions
of Ukraine. In addition to cooperation of
UTCwith the Government and Parliament
of Ukraine, it is necessary to emphasize the
