et us remind that Ukrainian Trade
Center (UTC) has the status of
official representative of the
Chamber of Commerce and
Industry of Ukraine in the UAE. The
Center was establishedwith active
support of theMinistry of Economy of Ukraine,
the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and
the Embassy of Ukraine to the UAE.
Establishing the UTC, the Ukrainian side
acted based on the following assumptions.
The Embassy of Ukraine and the Trade
Mission are located in Abu Dhabi, while in
the UAE largest city - Dubai, therewas no
representation of Ukraine. Now, that UTC has
been established, representatives of business
and financial community of Dubai willing to
cooperatewith Ukraine have the opportunity
to address the Center for consultations on
options of making business with Ukrainian
partners, as well as be advised on legal
issues, etc. Similarly, Ukrainian businessmen
visiting Dubai can get recommendations and
advise onmaking business contacts in the
UAE and use the UTC infrastructure to access
themarket of the Emirates and neighboring
countries, since the activities of the Center
as a representative of the Chamber of
Commerce and Industry of Ukraine cover the
entire Gulf region.

Since theactivitiesofUTChavebeencovered
ingreat detail inBusiness Emirateswearegoing
to reviewonly themost essential events. Out of
manycontactswithdifferent organizations and
departments inDubai, cooperationwith theDubai
Chamber of Commerceand Industrydefinitely
shouldbeemphasized. Basically, all significant
events, forums andconferencesorganizedby
UTC in theEmirateofDubaiwerepreparedand
implemented inclosecooperationwith the
leadershipofDubai CCI, inparticular, theBusiness
Promotion, Tradeand Industrial Development
Department headedbyMr. SultanLootah. Anew
impulse to stimulate the relationshipswasmade
inSeptember 2006,whenUTCorganized theKiev
visit ofDubai CCI’sdelegation,which includedMr.
A.R. AlMutaiweewhowas theGeneral Director
of theCCI, andMr. SultanLootah. During this
visit, andduring the followingnegotiationswith
thenewGeneral Director ofDubai CCIMr.H.M.
Buamimand itsChairmanMr. O.H. Al Tayer,
thewaysof expanding thecooperationwere
identified, inparticular, in the fieldof aircraft
buildingand spaceexploration.
Cooperationwith the administration
of Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) is also very
important for us. Today, Jebel Ali is the leading
free zone in the UAE and one of themost
successful free economic zones in theworld.
