Economy. Let us remind the readers, that
presentation of economic and recreational
potential of Crimean peninsula took place
inDecember 2005, at the forum named
“Spheres of Cooperation betweenUkraine
andUAE”and inspired great interest in
representatives of Dubai and the UAE business
community. The visit of Mrs. Svitlana Verba,
theMinister of Economy of the AR of Crimea
in September 2006, allowed the parties to
continue this dialog. During the visit toDubai
CCI and the negotiations with a number of
major companies of the emirate, the parties
discussed the possibilities of setting up
mutually profitable cooperation between
Crimea andDubai.
As a representativeof UkrainianTradeCenter
inCrimeawho knowswell thepeninsula’s
potential, I can say that cooperationbetween
Crimea and the Emirates looks verypromising.
Let us consider. For instance, take the sphereof
tourism and recreation. It iswell known that in
the summermonths in Emirates and inother
countries of the region the air temperature
goes above40degrees Centigrade, which
makesmany local citizens go to countrieswith
moremoderate climate. This prompts they
could spend their summermonths inCrimea,
whichhas all the facilities for adequate rest and
sanatorium care. At the same time, they could
familiarizewith the rich cultural andhistorical
heritageof thepeninsula. There arenumerous
hunters inArab countries, they couldpractice
their favoritehobby in thepeninsula’s steppes.
Also, it is important to remember that roughly
10%of Crimeanpopulation areCrimeanTartars
whopractice Islam. Thismeans, theguests from
Muslim countrieswouldhavenoproblems
findingmosques there.
Certainly, there is agreat potential for
cooperation in the sphereof economics and
agriculture. A lot is yet tobedone inorder to
use the full potential of Crimea andUkraine in
general. Special attention shouldbepaid to the
work on informingbusiness and financial circles
of the region, thepeople fromGulf countries and
thewholeMiddle East about Ukraine’s potential.
In connectionwith this, the importanceof
Business Emiratesmagazine is enormous,
considering the fact that it publishednumerous
articles onUkraine andCrimea.
UTC certainly plans to tell the UAE
people about other regions of Ukraine as
well, conduct conferences and forums to
make presentations in the Gulf countries and
stimulate themarket presence of Ukrainian
