Somemay say that itmeans:
“establishing close tieswith key
specialists of government structures,
includingdecision-makers or people influencing
decision-making”. Another possibleoptionwould
be: “providing the awareness of your company in
government agencies”. However, themost precise
formulation reflecting theessenceof government
relationswouldbe thedefinitionof goals of
such activities. Inparticular, we are talking about
representationof theorganization’s interests
ingovernment agencies. Some largeUkrainian
companies have alreadyused services of global
legal firms focusingongovernment relations
andhaving representativeoffices inEurope
and theUS for resolutionof important issues of
international cooperation.
Looking into theprospects of Ukraine–UAE
cooperation, it is necessary toemphasize the
fact that professional andefficient presentation
of Ukrainian companies at the top level in
Ukraine andUAE is the first andmost important
step towards long-term cooperation. In this
context, wewould like tounderscore that at this
time there is awell developed infrastructure in
existencewithgoodexperience in this field.
GOVERNMENTRELATIONS INREALITY
OnMay 30, 2005, upon solicitation from the
General Director of Dubai Chamber of Commerce
and IndustryMr. AlMutaiwi andupon approval
of theCourt of HisHighness theRuler of Dubai,
the EconomicsDepartment of Dubai registered
the first andonlyUkrainianTradeCenter inGulf
countries (UTC).
Theveryhistoryof creationofUkrainianTrade
Center inDubai is rather typical because it has
reputable referrals fromgovernment structuresof
UAE that lookedapprovinglyat thepossibilityof
establishment of theUTC, theactivitiesofwhich
is focusedon increaseof political andeconomical
influenceofUkraine in theGulf countries.
OnUkrainian side, theTradeCenterwas
establishedwith the assistance from the
Ministryof Economyof Ukraine and the
Chamber of Commerce and Industryof Ukraine,
with additional support from the Embassy
of Ukraine in theUAE. This guaranteedhigh
representation level of theorganization andover
timehadpositiveeffect duringorganizationof
negotiations and concluding contracts on supply
of Ukrainiangoods. By theway, todayUkrainian
TradeCenter represents the interests of The
Chamber of Commerce and Industryof Ukraine
and all its 27 regional representativeoffices.
AlsoUkraineTradeCenter is the sponsor of the
informational project “Ukraine-Emirates: Property
Business Investments”, which is thepart of
“Business Emirates”magazine. Amongprominent
readers of “Business Emirates”magazine, which
contains the articles both inRussian and English
languages, are top-brackets ofmanagement
in theUAE andUkraine, includingChamber of
Commerce and Industrywith its 27branches
