As I have alreadymentioned inprevious
editions of «Business Emirates»wehavebeen
cooperatingwithUkraine for seventeen years,
the last two yearswe added the communication
with theUAE. So, there is someexisting triangle
within thebounds ofwhichwe areoperating.

COUNTRIES?
A fewweeks ago the representatives of
UkrainianNational ScienceAcademy as apart of
Ukrainiandelegationwere in theUAE.Wehave
visitedArabuniversities; get acquaintedwith
professorswho areengaged in active academical
investigation. By theway, I was surprisedby
thenumbers ofmy European colleagueswho
areworking there. TheUAE is a young country;
there areno appropriate academical traditions
which already exist inUkraineor other European
countries. Therefore, the Emirates are interested
inexperienceof our countries. For example,
when Imetwith the SheikhNahayanbin
MubarakAl Hahayan, theMinister of Higher
Education and Scientific Researchof theUAE,
he treated all theprojects offeredbyus in the
sphereofmedicine, spaceexploration, aviation
andother directionswithgreat enthusiasm.
WHATKINDOFPROJECTSDIDYOUDISCUSS
WITHTHEREPRESENTATIVESOFUAE?
During the visit of theUAEGovernment
Delegation inKyiv at 5- 7of June2007 I had
thepossibility to communicatewith the acting
undersecretaryof ForeignAffairs of theUAE
in chargeof political issuesDr. TareqAhmed
Al-Haidan. He said that theUAE is interested
inbuildingofMedicineCenters. I replied that
both inUkraine andAustria there is a sufficient
number of scientific specialistswho are able to
visit UAEwith the aimof exchangingexperience
whichwas accumulated for a long time. This
refers also to the issueof exchanging the
students. So far, I findout a lucrative interest
of theUAE towards the collaboration in the
framework of above said triangle.

ABOUTTHEPLANSOFTHISTRIANGLE?
As you know, all problems are created
bypeople themselves. Therefore, everything
depends on the team you areworkingwith.
That shouldbe thepeople likeMr. Sergii
Pachkovskyi, Director General of UkraineTrade
Centerwho is callednowHonoraryConsul of
Emirates inUkraine, YaroslavYatskiv, Member of
general committeeof NASU, thePresident of
astronomical observatory inUkraine. Inother
words, thosewhohasmanaged toovercome
manydifficulties towards thehighwayof
success. There is a seventeen years experience
betweenAustria andUkraine. I am convinced
that collaborationwith theUAE is possible.
Moreover, theUAE are really very interested in
that kindof collaboration. Itwas agreat pleasure
forme tohear, for instance, that theUAE are
about opening their Embassy inUkraine. I think
that itwill significantly simplify the cooperation
betweenour countries.
